An act of thoughtfulness

A thoughtful act from my daughter.

Today she surprised me and made me lunch. How sweet is that. She loves to have little tea parties and is the perfect little hostess. She made me a sandwich, gave me a brownie and juice.

My daughter likes to help (A lot). Sometimes it is hard to let go of control and allow them to help. She is 6 1/2 and makes sure to add that 1/2, anyway she likes to help with the baby, cooking, laundry or whatever else she can. I am a bit of a perfectionist so I like to have things done a certain way or look a certain way (working on that). I don't mind the help it is just the unsolicited help that gets me. She does a little too much then I have to go behind her and fix it which almost makes double the work.

I am learning to step back and give her a little more responsibility while increasing my patience.

I am amazed at how fast she is growing and I can't believe my baby will be 7 soon. boo hoo - The time just flies by. Enjoy them while you can.

Ahhh, my day at the spa.....

It's nothing like a nice massage right? Wow, I had a back, leg & foot massage and I also had my hair styled.

While I was standing at the stove cooking, my son starts rubbing my back with a back roller. He must have known I needed a back massage. I thought that was really sweet of him.

Later after we ate, I am sitting in the chair with my legs elevated and my kids thought of a fun game to play all on their own to spend time with mommy. They ran to get the lotion, lets massage mommy. I'm not going to argue with that. Here goes the competition with who can massage mommy the fastest. I am then treated to a rough massage on one leg with the roller and on the other leg my daughter is massage/scraping at the same time. It is a bit relaxing so I start to doze off. Mind you the baby is in my arms and my other two are now wiping off my relaxing lotion with the baby wipes.

Oh, I forgot I also got a leg wrap. They start wrapping my legs with the cold baby wipes, then my daughter wants to play doctor. So the leg wrap turns into a leg bandage and I am instructed to sit and do not get up [Dr's orders]

Now it is time for my stylist to show up.

My daughter runs to get the comb and the brush (she is quite good with both) and proceeds to style my hair. I now have 3 ponytails - two in the front and one in the back. (sorry no pictures)

I have two of the best massage therapists and a wonderful hair stylist. How about you-have you had a massage lately?

Remember When...

Gone are the days when you can lounge around all day without being interuppted.

Better yet having a real conversation with another adult.

Gone are the days of talking on the phone uninterrupted - now little ones are tugging at your arm fighting for your attention.

Remember when you could go shopping and spend hours in the store-now you are rushed through the isles, barely enough time to try on things without comments like 'wow mom I can see your stomach'.

I used to be able to eat my food without little fingers picking in my plate or drinking whatever is in my glass.

Remember when you could go a whole week or more before you had to do laundry? Now the laundry is piled a mile high.

How about only having to make a meal for yourself. Now you have to think about what to fix for dinner daily or making meal plans for the week.

The biggest of all - being able to shower for 20 min (some days you can barely get a shower).

I love my family and my little ones and I wouldn't change it for anything. We make small sacrifices daily so that we can love and cherish those entrusted in our care. We only have them for a short time and then they grow up and become adults. I have learned to be more patient, and unselfish and learned that my heart can be filled with more love than I could have ever imagined.

Am I alone? Let me know your thoughts. I'd love to hear from you.

Be Blessed,

Setting the record straight

Just to clarify, I am still a babywearing mama. I love the closeness with my litte one. I will just be more aware when babywearing. There is nothing like the warmth of your little one next to you, knowing they are safe and snug all bundled up.

Keep those babies close and continue in mom/baby bonding. Keep those who have lost their little ones in your prayers for strength and comfort in their time of grief.

Be Blessed,

Babywearing and Recent Deaths

I am rethinking my babywearing, due to the recent news of another infant death by suffocation. The CPSC has issued a warning for parents who use infant baby sling carriers.

CPSC recommends that parents and caregivers:

* make sure the infant’s face is not covered and is visible at all times to the sling’s wearer.
* If nursing the baby in a sling, change the baby’s position after feeding so the baby’s head is facing up and is clear of the sling and the mother’s body.
*Parents and caregivers should be vigilant about frequently checking their baby in a sling.

Daylight Savings

Wow, it's that time again. Don't forget to set your clocks forward.

The day was absolutely beautiful, there was barely a cloud in the sky. I love this time of year. I am a warm weather person and I am so looking forward to spring. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of your weekend.

Why I love nursing

This is my personal opinion and these thoughts are my own.

There is nothing like looking down into your babies eyes as they are looking back at you and saying thank you mommy for giving me you. I love when my 2 month old flashes that teethless grin and he just stares at me with the look of awe and amazement, like wow you are my mommy. It just melts me everytime.

I believe breastfeeding is the most natural thing you can provide for your baby. There is no mixing at 3 am {his usual feeding time}, it has the perfect balance of vitamins and nutrients, it is the healthier alternative.

Yes it can be time consuming and you may feel like your body doesn't belong to you anymore because baby demands milk from you. If you have chosen to breastfeed, just remember hang in there it may be rough for some at first, but it has lasting rewards.

I can testify to the bond of closeness that I have with all of my children. Now I can't shake them. They are all attached to me all of the time and the closeness doesn't stop when they get older either. This is not to say you can't have that same closeness if you chose not to nurse. I am just saying this is what worked for me.

What is "Me Time"

I have no idea what me time is. I almost never get any. With all of the busyness in my day, I am lucky if I can get a shower. Has that ever happened to you or is it just me?

I am not one to complain,(well sometimes-working on that)sometimes you just need a break. I have been a SAHM for close to 7 years now and I am happy to be at home. Now if I said that every moment was peaceful and exciting and drama free I would be lying.

Here is my day

I am nursing several times during the night (how do you say sleep deprived).
I am at home with the kids all day and most of the evening-cooking, cleaning, teaching, nursing, bathing, policing the - tattling, running, screaming, crying, fit-throwing, picky eating wonderful beings I call my children.

My free time or me time is spent picking up the toys from the day, washing the dishes, folding and washing the clothes, nursing again and trying to squeeze in some sleep.

Is it just me or does me even fit in the picture. I am good if I can get a shower some days.

What is your "Morning Ritual"

I am curious to know how other people start their day. Are you in a frantic frenzy to get out the door for work or school? Do you take time to make breakfast? Is your life rushed with little time for yourself or your family? If you are a believer do you read the word every morning?

Let's talk, I just wanted to have an open and frank conversation about our morning rituals.
